GoldenGrass (Capim Dourado) is an unique type of plant used to create exquisite craftwork. The delicate golden sticks are slowly transformed into works of art. It only exists in the Jalapao area, the northern part of Brazil. This area holds an unique type of moist soil that can grow the GoldenGrass naturally. The GoldenGrass is collected only once a year between September and November. The process is approved and controlled by IBAMA (the Brazilian Department of Environmental Protection). After harvesting , the stems are used for the handcrafting and the seeds are thrown back again into the soil. This guarantees the sustainability and continuous growth of this unique and shiny grass and the production of fine art without compromising the environment and the plant. |
